Terms of Use — Audelle

Last updated: October 11, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Nova Science Ventures LLC ("we", "us") about your use of the Audelle app and the service behind it. By installing or using Audelle you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Our privacy policy explains what data we use.

Apple's standard end user license agreement for apps from the App Store also applies to your copy of the app. These terms add to it and cover what it does not: credits, the stories, and the service. Where they differ, these terms apply to the service, and Apple's agreement applies to the app licence.

What Audelle is

Audelle is an audio travel guide. It finds places near you and plays short stories about them. The stories are written by AI from public sources such as Wikipedia, Wikidata and OpenStreetMap, and read aloud by a synthetic voice. They are not quotations, and they can be wrong, out of date, or incomplete. They are for interest and entertainment. Do not rely on them for anything that matters, such as safety, health, legal, financial or travel decisions, or to check whether a place is open or accessible.

Using Audelle safely

Audelle is made to be heard while you walk or drive. You are responsible for your own safety and for obeying the law. Do not look at or touch your phone while driving. Pay attention to your surroundings, traffic and signs. A story about a place is not permission to enter it: respect private property, closed areas and local rules. Audelle uses your location in the background, which uses battery. You can turn it off in your iPhone's Settings.

Credits

  • What they are. Credits are a limited right to use features of the service, such as hearing a new story or searching a new area. The app shows what each action costs. They are not money, a deposit or stored value. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged, and are tied to your installation of the app.
  • Buying. You buy credits through Apple's in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment, charges any taxes, and handles the receipt. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
  • No expiry. Credits you have bought do not expire.
  • Free credits. New installations receive some free credits. They are a courtesy, have no value, and we may change or stop them.
  • Refunds. Apple decides refund requests for App Store purchases, under its own rules, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund an App Store purchase ourselves, but we will support your request where we can. If Apple refunds a purchase, we remove those credits from your balance. If you have already used them, your balance can fall below zero and you cannot use credit-based features until it is back above zero. Where the law gives you a right of withdrawal or a refund, nothing in these terms takes it away.
  • Limits and changes. To protect the service and your wallet, a daily limit applies to how many credits an installation can spend. We may change what actions cost, the packs on offer, and the limits. Changes apply to future actions: credits you already hold are not removed by a price change, but they may buy more or fewer actions afterwards, and the app will show the current cost.
  • Your installation. Credits belong to the installation identifier described in our privacy policy. It survives reinstalling the app. If you lose it, for example by moving to a new phone without a backup, we may be able to help, but we are not obliged to move credits between devices.

The service may change or end

We are a small company and Audelle depends on services we do not control. We may change, suspend or stop any part of Audelle, or all of it. If we stop the whole service, we will:

  • give notice on audelle.app, on our App Store page and, where we can, in the app itself (we hold no email addresses for users), at least 30 days before it ends, unless a legal, security or safety reason, or an event outside our control such as a provider cutting us off, requires faster action;
  • stop selling credits before the service ends; and
  • tell you how to ask Apple for a refund of credits you have not used, and support those requests.

Stories already downloaded to your phone stay on your phone, and you may keep listening to them there for your own use. Features that need our server will stop working when it does.

Our stories, and what you may do with them

Stories, audio, the compiled place information and the app are provided for your personal, non-commercial use as a listener. You may not copy, scrape, bulk download, republish, resell, or build a competing service from them, or use them to train a machine-learning model, and you may not use automated means to get them. We do not claim ownership of the public sources the stories draw on. Wikipedia text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence, Wikidata under CC0, OpenStreetMap data under the Open Database Licence and photos from Wikimedia Commons under the licences shown with each photo. Nothing in these terms limits the rights those licences give you in the original material, and our restrictions apply to Audelle's own work and to the extent the law lets us impose them.

Rules of use

You agree not to:

  • use Audelle in a way that breaks the law or anyone's rights;
  • copy, decompile, reverse engineer, or modify the app, or work around its security, limits or the checks that confirm the app is genuine;
  • send requests to our server by any means other than the app, or use scripts, bots or emulators to do so;
  • interfere with or overload the service;
  • obtain credits or refunds by fraud or abuse, including buying credits and using them before disputing the charge.

We may suspend or limit an installation that seriously or repeatedly breaks these rules, and we will tell you why where we can. This does not affect your legal rights.

Third-party services

Audelle uses Apple Maps, Apple's App Store and App Attest, and public sources such as Wikimedia and OpenStreetMap. We are not responsible for them, and their own terms apply when you use them.

Feedback

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything. We will not use your name for it without asking.

Disclaimers and limits on our liability

Audelle is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate or available everywhere, or that location, audio or stories will always work. Phones, networks, location services and third-party sources fail, and we cannot control them.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss arising from your reliance on a story, from visiting a place, or from using the app while driving or walking. Our total liability to you for anything arising from Audelle is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (through Apple, excluding refunds) or US$50.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for intentional or grossly negligent harm, and it does not reduce the legal rights a consumer has in their own country.

Age

You must be at least 13 years old, or older where the law of your country requires it, to use Audelle. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission to buy credits.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that matter, we will say so in the app or on this page at least 30 days before they apply. If you continue to use Audelle after that, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can stop using Audelle.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts in Delaware have jurisdiction over disputes, except that if you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim in your local courts. Please write to us first at support@audelle.app and give us a chance to put things right.

General

If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a term at once, that does not waive it. These terms and the policies they link to are the whole agreement between us about Audelle.
